Technical Specification Overview
The Bosch mini split system operates within a voltage range of 208-230V AC for optimal performance. The typical refrigeration circuit pressure should maintain between 50-70 psi for the low side and 200-250 psi for the high side. Communication between the indoor and outdoor units generally utilizes a 4-wire system, where control signals should range between 24VDC and 30VDC during normal operation.
Troubleshooting Checklist
- Verify Power Supply: Use a digital multimeter to measure the input power at the outdoor unit. Confirm that voltage levels are consistent between 208-230V AC.
- Check Communication Voltage: Measure the DC voltage across the communication lines connecting the indoor and outdoor units. Normal readings should be between 24VDC and 30VDC; a reading of 0V indicates a communication failure.
- Inspect Indoor Unit Airflow: Ensure the air filters are clean and not obstructing airflow. If airflow is restricted, replace or clean filters and assess fan operation.
- Examine Refrigerant Levels: Connect a manifold gauge set to the system to check the refrigerant pressures. Low refrigerant levels may cause the system to enter P6 protection mode.
- Assess for Fault Codes: Utilize the technician mode or access the control board display to read fault codes. Look for specific P6 indicators, which typically point to an indoor fan malfunction.
- Inspect Indoor Fan Operation: Manually check the indoor fan motor. Disconnect the power, then measure the resistance of the fan motor windings. A reading outside the typical range of 10-30 ohms suggests a defective motor.
- Check Condensate Drainage: Confirm that the drain line is free from blockages. A clogged drain can trigger the P6 code due to safety mechanisms reacting to perceived overflow risks.
- Reinitialize the System: After repairs, power cycle the unit by turning off power for at least 5 minutes, then restore power to reset the control board.
