Troubleshooting Checklist

  • Inspect the physical condition of the condenser pipe sensor. Look for signs of damage such as corrosion, frayed wires, or disconnects. Repair or replace any damaged components as needed.
  • Use a digital multimeter set to measure resistance. Disconnect the sensor and measure the resistance across the sensor terminals. Resistance values should fall between 5kΩ and 15kΩ at room temperature. Out-of-range values indicate a faulty sensor.
  • Check the voltage supply to the sensor. With the system powered on, measure the voltage at the sensor’s power terminals. The correct voltage should be between 4.5VDC and 5.5VDC. Values outside this range may indicate a problem with the control board or wiring.
  • Verify continuity in the wiring leading from the condenser pipe sensor to the main control board. Perform a continuity test by measuring resistance across the wire. A reading of 0Ω denotes continuity, while infinite resistance indicates a break.
  • Assess the control board for any burnt traces or components that could cause an incorrect signal to be sent or received. Replace any damaged components using a soldering iron.
  • Inspect the configuration settings of the system through the diagnostic menu. Ensure that the sensor type is correctly set in the control board programming. Mismatched settings can lead to sensor errors.
  • After performing repairs or replacements, reset the system by powering it off and disconnecting the power supply for 1 minute. Then restore power to clear any fault codes.
  • Run a comprehensive system diagnostic using manufacturer software if available. This may provide additional error codes or insights that can clarify the issue further.
