Bosch HVAC Errors

Technical Specification Overview

Bosch heat pumps are designed to operate efficiently within a voltage range of 230V to 400V, ensuring stable performance. The expected refrigerant pressure thresholds are typically between 30 PSI for low pressure and 250 PSI for high pressure. Communication protocols often involve Modbus for data exchange between the heat pump and the control system.

Troubleshooting Checklist

  • Verify Power Supply: Use a digital multimeter to measure AC voltage at the input terminals. The voltage should be between 230V and 400V. Any significant deviation indicates a power supply issue.
  • Check Error Codes: Access the control panel and navigate to the diagnostics menu. Note the displayed error codes; error 528 usually relates to communication failures. Document any additional codes for further analysis.
  • Inspect Communication Lines: Use a digital multimeter to measure DC voltage across the communication lines. Normal operating range should be between 24VDC and 30VDC. A reading of 0V indicates an open circuit, suggesting potential wiring damage or loose connections.
  • Examine Integrity of Connections: Inspect all connectors on the control board. Look for corrosion, looseness, or burnt connections. Reseat any loose connectors and clean corrosion with contact cleaner.
  • Test the Control Board: With the power off, check for visible signs of damage (burn marks, swollen capacitors) on the control board. If damage is evident, replace the control board.
  • Perform a Software Reset: Power cycle the unit by turning it off for at least 10 seconds before switching it back on. This can reset fault codes and resolve transient issues.
  • Perform Refrigerant Level Check: Use a manifold gauge set to check for refrigerant pressure. Ensure readings are within specified thresholds (30 PSI low/250 PSI high). Low refrigerant can cause operational faults.
  • Consult Event Log: If applicable, access the event log via the control interface to identify any recurring issues that preceded error 528. Follow up on persistent errors for a deeper diagnosis.
